“College/University colors with a twist: dress for success at your alma mater, but give it a Scout twist! Here are some of our suggestions for thinking and styling out of the box, and we just can’t get enough of ‘logo-wear’! Stay warm at Williams in well-made separates… be they boots or jeans, go for comfort, and polish off the look with the regal tone of purple** or a rich plum.

(**Scout fans, mark your calendars for late October, when the Original Deano and the Uptown Girl will return in Purple Haze Paisley!)

PURPLE & PLUM SWEATERS: from left to right, this Paul Smith Black Label Cashmere Cardigan looks perfect with grey jeans for class or trivia night at the local bar; J. Crew has yet again successfully aligned itself with ‘collegiate cool’, and the brand’s Cashmere Zip-Front Hoodie will be that key early fall piece when you need something cozy to throw on before class; Volcom’s Smooth Ice Cardigan meets the price needs of any and every college student, while its ‘ombre effect’ meets your need for ‘going out’ style when temps change drastically in the Northeast; Tracy Reese’s Chunky-Knit Loose Sweater takes its cues from the classic Fisherman’s sweater, yet it’s more flattering and lightweight with the alternating ribbed texture; finally, Stella McCartney’s Oversized Alpaca-Blend Cardigan will be great in the early days of fall as a coat, then, come winter, use it as a layering piece under a long down puffer.

GREY WITH PURPLE ACCESSORIES: nothing looks more effortlessly chic than pairing grey with purple… from left to right, tuck Current/Elliot’s ‘the Skinny’ Low-Rise Corduroy Jeans into Hunter’s Original Tall Wellington Boots; tote notebooks in Scout’s Goodie Bag in Purple Haze Paisley; for a streamlined look on the bottom, consider J Brand’s Low-Rise Skinny Stretch Denim with Vivienne Westwood’s Melissa Bootie.
