Leather is a critical component of head to toe dressing for fall. Beginning with pockets, epaulets, hems, collars, and cuffs, on sweaters, dresses, and jackets, to morphing into exotic snake and patchwork effects for bags and other accessories. There is a bohemian influence from the seventies that is impacting color-blocked and mélange looks, often mixing hair-suede with python or matte with shine leathers. Important details to watch in the bag market include vertical silhouettes, “cuff” effects, beading and appliqué, fringe, bisected bags by color and material, tromp l’oeil looks, and flap-patch pockets.
