The time has come, and back to college is here! Today we’re obsessing over redecorating our dorm rooms (since we didn’t have all this fab gear when we were in college)!
A MULTICOLOR STORY
We started with this beautiful bedspread from Dwell Studio which has the perfect balance of white + color…and just so happens to perfectly compliment the colors of our Flashback Paisley Hang-10 and mirrors the wavey design of The Hills Junque Trunk.
We think every college girl needs to work hard and play hard. The FoFlor ‘Keep Calm and Party On’ accent rug reinforces this ideology with its easygoing machine-washable nature, ideal for a dorm room. While getting ready for a big night out, this Urban Outfitters iHome can rock the tunes (but don’t get a sound violation!). And, most important, to avoid your dorm’s fluorescent lighting, we push good lighting with this PBTeenFrayed Frond Shade. And no dorm room would be complete without an Anthropologie mirror for primping for day to night.
Sigh…we wish we were still in college! See how it came together below.
A BLACK & WHITE STORY
While we love pink, sometimes a more neutral palette can be the perfect dorm room solution as well. Again, we were inspired by a comforter! Anthropologie’s Jacquard patterned bedding is the perfect place to study or to sleep. After a good snooze in this bed, you can awake refreshed and analyze your lack of dark circles in this West Elm lacquer vanity mirror.
While this room will be a ‘subtle sanctuary’, you still have to have a few pops of color to be negate the “Morticia Adams” effect. FoFlor’s Racey Lacey Runner offers you just enough color with the pink border and offers a worry-free floor covering solution being machine washable. To complement the pop of pink, we incorporated our Hang-10 bin in Black Swan Paisley, which features a cute pink interior so black ballpoints don’t get lost so easily. O Lighting’s floor lamp is a sleek and sophisticated lamp to keep you up way after the sun goes down; to counter that we have the Mxyplyzyk bubble clock to make sure you are up and on your way to class come morning!
The last two finishes to the dorm room would be a “mother’s touch,” because no matter how old we are, we still need a mom’s advice! Can’t you hear that voice saying, “Eat Your Veggies?” Alexandra Ferguson put it perfectly on a pillow! Finally, a great mom would gift you with Jonathan Adler’s black frame to keep a picture of the family closeby!
See below what we think Morticia might have appreciated in college more than her (presumed) all-black dorm room…
