blog_BehindtheDesign-Apr-CarnivalYall-Header-1Hey cuties.

My charts are telling me today calls for some serious realness. Therefore, I would be remiss if I didn’t provide some 3-pm-on-the-Friday-and-hangin’-by-a-thread inspiration. So, let’s get it. As brash, crass, and first-class, New Orleans-based artist, Ashley Longshore, says, “Don’t ever save anything for a ‘special occasion.’ Being alive is the special occasion.” Sometimes we need a hero to order a round of reality shots to get the party started.

Behind the Design: Parisian Prints

Posted on Mar 16, 2018 5:05:49 PM

Deb’s design inspiration for this pattern came from a print on a dilapidated wallpaper plastered to the side of a building in Paris. I remember Deb telling the story of her Parisian pattern inspo after returning from her bi-annual Europe trip last September. The a-ha moment occurred just as a wrecking machine was about to smash an old boulangerie/boucher/banque (could have been any of these v French places) to smithereens. Untethered by her own inspiration, Deb shotgunned her tea and smashed the cup on the sidewalk. The woman would not be stopped.

Blog_BehindTheDesgin_Dec_Metallics-Header-1This holiday season, Deb's giving the people what they want. "What do the people want?" you ask?  The people want luxe. The people love glitter. The people need metallic, shine, glitz and glamour! AND, a little gold, silver, frankincense and myrrh, I say!

Behind the Design: Decorative Patterns

Blog_BehindTheDesgin_Nov_LooBlue-Header-1Like a locker room at the big game, green room during opening night, empty classroom before presenting your Senior thesis, the Powder Room is sacred. This hallowed space can transport and rejuvenate you.  This holiday season, Deb's decorative prints have a similar effect.

So, with transport in mind, let's begin our journey with a little trip down memory lane...

Deb will be the first to tell you that a stripe will always be a crowd pleaser--it’s timeless.  It's classic.  At the same time, she’s not going to settle with safe and move on to the next pattern.  But, where’s the fun in that?  Where’s the twist?!  This is when Deb comes in with the layers and variety.  This is fashion, people!  We gotta keep things interesting!

Behind the Design: Bouclé

Posted on Sep 13, 2017 11:11:59 AM

This featured pattern was created by Deb, our Chief Creative Officer, who channeled a personal twist on bouclé.  For those who don't parlez-vouz francais, the word "bouclé" means "to buckle," alluding to the bunched and stubbly effect created by weaving, stitching, and knitting threads or wool of varying sizes and lengths.  Gabrielle "CoCo" Chanel and the Chanel brand is famously known for using this technique when designing jackets and blazers.

Pattern spotlight: Hightime Havana

Posted on Mar 31, 2017 2:59:55 PM

The energy in Cuba turns everything into something unexpected! Havana is filled with color saturated stucco buildings bleached by the sun and the vibrant vintage cars are preserved from another era.  The people are alive and spirited and the traditional garb is trimmed with rows of ruffles and detailed in high color. We love the time warp quality of Cuba with a light coming through for more things possible for its people in the future. Click to see how Deb infused this color palette into one of our hottest patterns for spring!
